As part of the current VOICEMANIA event in Vienna, VieVox presented an entertaining programme on Thursday, November 27, 2023, appealing to Acapella arrangements of some pop classics by the Beatles, Queen, and the BeeGees, as well as Viennese songs.

The concert was held at the Hotel am Spittelberg in Vienna’s 7th District. A number of acapella music lovers and some Filipino audience attended it. Michael Florendo, the son of Filipino musicians Lilibeth and George Florendo, is one of the leading members of the ensemble.

VieVox, consisting of former soloists from the Vienna Boys’ Choir, comprises eight men from over 500 years of singing tradition. The ensemble offers vocal music at the highest level, always with a friendly smile. The eight vocal artists know how to inspire their audience with palpable joy in music. VieVox is the Latin name for “Singing from Vienna” (Vox Viennensis). The name was by no means chosen at random but indicates the ensemble’s artistic profile: vocal works by great composers of past eras and pieces explicitly referencing Vienna are usually part of every concert. Versatility is the strength of the group of artists and the identity-forming motto in the selection of repertoire. The band’s breadth is repeatedly demonstrated at concerts at home and abroad. Since its foundation in 2010, over 40 works by 16 composers (including Heinz Kratochwil, Herwig Reiter, and Wolfram Wagner) have been premiered. In a few words, VieVox is a dynamic male vocal group from Austria’s capital.
